Alternate title “bold acceptance” or “I will eat the rose”
I could be way off base but... You have a terrifically pained look on your face which shows the true anticipation of pain(perhaps a metaphor for real life anxiety); But, although a rose is sweet and symbolizes love; there can be bitterness and inevitable thorns if mistreated; or, perhaps, we must in life strive for the good true and beautiful, despite the pain, and inescapable sense that love is ephemeral, fleeting, and that along with the sweet smell there is the sometimes painful consequences. The facial grimace may not be that you are expecting to take the rose into your mouth, but that you have already squeezed and felt the thorns; in that case; the rose in the mouth is indicative of a strong will; someone who says “I can take this pain and will move on, I will not weep longingly over romantic photos in a book strewn with dried rose petals; I will eat the rose.

Brilliant, and kudos on a mid-five with a daring shot - thats a great score when it isnt a "hallmark card" type photo. :)

And again, Brilliant. Especially in knowing how to emotionally imapact and make your audience smile, and vote with you in emotional comraderie.

Okay, if I can stop laughing long enough, I'll tell you what I think of this picture.

Compositionally, this is an excellent set up. The stem of the rose leads the viewer's eyes up and into the frame, where they are met with the face. The crop of the head is very effective, I think, for adding to the "tension" in the shot and driving the focus to the mouth and rose.

Technically, the focus and lighting is good, and the exposure is good as well. The red of the rose is very nice, but the gray stem kind of bothers me. I didn't notice it at first, but the more I look at it, the more I notice it. Also, and this is just a nitpick, the pattern on your nails distracts me from the subject. Not enough that if I were voting, I would vote it down, but I find myself looking at them. Probably because they are in close proximation to the rose.

Someone mentioned a different color background. I had not thought of it, but it would be interesting to see what it would look like with a white white backgroun (now, it is a grayish color) or a black one. It might have even been interesting to do it with a "wild" color. If you don't have gels for your lighting (and most of us don't), I have found that the plastic report covers that you can find in school supplies work okay. Of course, it would have cast a different color on the face and rose, so you would have had to had a separate light (with the color) shining on the wall.

It meets the challenge, and I think it is quite funny.

Good work and best wishes in future challenges.

Angela, LOL....I'm sorry for the low votes and the comments you seemed to dislike from me on them in the past - hence this image I imagine. But your lack of close attention to detail again shows in the transposing of the numbers. Therefore, my comments remain unaltered. I am glad you got a chance to vent though! LMAO....

Interesting take on this users name. For me, I wonder what this would look like with a strong, black background - to really make the rose and skin colors pop. With the neutral backdrop it seems just a bit washed out to me.

This is so funny. It looks like you are screaming into a microphone, which fits all the more. I don't like the slight cast to the picture. 8

That's the most livid rose eater I've ever seen. ha ha ha ha

I like the saturation of color and the imaginative take. Nice detailing too.

Thanks, but you transposed my numbers. Those are the numbers of my sons birthdate, so 6899 means little to me. LOL....AND are you trying to say biteme? LOL.....Hmmmm, hmmm, how shall I vote. Let me think about this one. Ok, I am done thinking and voted. Good luck! LOL....
