Greetings from the Critique Club. Let me start by saying that you have met the challenge perfectly in my mind. You have the Gothic feel down well in my opinion. You have captured the feel and it makes the viewer want to look longer, especially into the eyes. Great focal point of the whole shot. The coloring is well done, and the white background makes it stand out.

A few points that dont go well with the challenge in my view and could be improved on. The skin is over processed, almost looks plastic. A result of too much neat image I assume. It takes away from the gothic theme by making it seem fake, the nose seems to fade into the face. I also wonder about the tight crop at the top, would be nicer to see the top of the head and the beautiful red hair. Overall well done and the score reflects that in a high scoring challenge.

Hi Gothgirl.

I am so pleased you liked it. I did some research into this image before I did it. I already had bright red hair and noticed that goth wears black or dark red lipstick with light to white makeup. Goths don't all have jet black hair and black lipstick. They like to keep some femininity about them. Which is why I laughed at some of the comments about this not being goth!! LOL!!

And then I saw your photo....which just proved what I had found was right. It is so good to meet you. And yes, this girl is me.

Robbed, Robbed she was!

Great shot, a 10 from me. Suprised it didn't rank higher. Many probably didn't care for the blur, but I love it! This is a killer image in my mind. Great job.

Great shot! The androginous nature of the model is indeed disturbing. 10

I like the off-centered composition. The face seems to have been softened to the point that she looks almost plastic or her nose is "melting" into her face. The eyes look a bit...odd to me as well. I wonder if this was touched up with Neat Image?

Don't see "Goth" in this at all.

Nice model. Her looking nearly straight at the camera looks good. The only blue in the shot is her eye which makes it more of a focal point. I like the background and the negative space. Well done.

a bit creepy (just like a gothgirl should be) -- like the red tones througout -- one of my ribbon picks

Sorry but not fond of the PP at all, skin way way too perfectly smooth, I feel much rather that I am looking at a cartoon rather than a real person. The eyes kindof rescue the shot though so I gave it a mediocre rating of 5. Just wanted to explain why I didnĀ“t give this a higher mark as the thumbnail seemed good, I like the composition.

Would have liked to see more black lipstick and makeup. Just seems to be lacking that "goth" look I have seen on others, but a pretty girl with gorgeous eyes and hair color!

Maybe a Black BG would bring out the goth more, and I think you went just a little to far on the softening.

Lovely model. This doesn't really say "goth" to me, tho. The softening effect on the face makes her nose slightly bizarre.

nice pose and composition but for me personally a little soft. Maybe you intentionally wanted it soft. :-)

seems like the '83' part is not very well expressed - maybe a different username would have been better if you didn't want to use the whole thing.

Great portrait, the red hair jumps off the screen.

Hmmm - blackhair and black lipstick would be goth. This one falls short. :( Nice eyes though. :)

I wish the center of the face weren't so smoothed over. I like the placement of the figure and the makeup meets the goth feel, but her facial detail seems to vanish too much for me
