 This is actually a macro shot of a square cut nail standing on it's head.

The DOF is so shallow that all but the tip blurs out creating a feel of said object rising up out of a cloudlike fog.

I think you may have made the right choice. Without the title, I wouldn't have understood what this was. Maybe if we could see the nail just a bit more to get more sense of the DOF?

the placement of the tip is very weird in the frame....the shadow is again not helping and blown out tip is no good. I would expect a 5.2 kind of score with this one
