Wonderful shot. The DOF is tremendous, and the BG is quite nice. The colors are very pleasant. The brights of the first peeling are a little distracting.
Good job.

When I first saw this it reminded me of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie for some reason. The match resembles the tree drawings used in the film for me. I think that this is an excellent photo. You have a very creative imagination. The detail on the burnt match is great. This is a great example of SDOF. Congrats on a great score.

great textures off burned wood and oranges
i like the centered position maybe for my sense some sticks in the background a bit out of key
nitpicking / great entry

This is really good. Looks like a landscape from another planet. The out-of-focus matchsticks in the background are what I like the most. They look like dead alien trees or some other life-form.

The setup is great here. It almost reminds me of a something Tim Burton might use for one of his claymation movies. :) Great lighting, great composition, great DOF. Well done!

Wicked. I love the conflict of comfy and warm orange with the desolation of the matchstick. A bit less centre-feel would improve it even further.

Excellent shallow depth of field but I'm left wondering - why? Why are there burnt matches stuck in oranges? The image quality is excellent but with such disparate parts I'm left wondering what might be the significance, I feel I don't get the joke or the point. Is there one? A title that better explains what the image is about would work better for me. Of course, if it is just burnt matches stuck in oranges than maybe burnt matches would work. :) Anyway, technicals - excellent, meets the challenge - excellent, emotion/affinity/connection - not so good for me. 6 - good luck in the challenge!

What a great surrealist image full of wonderful vibrant colour, rich texture and so quirky too! I can't decide whether the almost centred composition complements the surreal aspect of the landscape or whether a more traditional rule of thirds placement for the foreground match would make it even stronger. Whatever, I do love it! 10

I'm not quite sure I "get" this shot, but I really, really like it nonetheless! It has a mystical feel to it, and the colors are great. It's certainly unique... I gave 'er a 10.

A very interesting shot. I like the idea very much and the burnt matchstick is great against the orange. Personally, I find the blurry matchstick almost directly behind the focused one to be a bit distracting. Also, it feels like this might be just a touch to sharpened ... The white outline along the right side of the focused matchstick is a bit strong for my liking. JMO.
