Creeeeeppyyy!!! I love how the vibrant green/blue contrasts with the large black border.

well, i LOVE the big border! i think it sets the shot apart and adds to sense of being closed in by the water. excellent work as always, les!

wow! This is very well illustrated! It has that dreamy look like when you're having a nightmare about drowning. I happen to love borders, so I'm happy to see one get such a good score with a bold border :)

Good drowning shot. The frame takes away from this though, so you know for the next challenge.

Not sure the big border works real well here, but no matter - the image conveys the fear and emotion well for the challenge.

Everybody has a fear of drowning. Not a very good photo (my view only), but I do get the sensation of fear.

this really reminds me of drowning, and makes me feel uneasy

Really like the turbulent textured water distorting face and are. Color in right arm is a great bonus. I didn't care for the heavy blck border, it makes it feel a bit chunky, a bit thinner perhaps ? Actual photo is great "8"

I like the colors and the effects to show the movement of the water. The border doesn't need to be so big.

Dramatic, good job! Would it have been better to light the back and darken the front, so that it looked like he was on the deep end?

Just back for comments...
Excellent use of border to "push" the picture inward and give that drowning feeling. Wonderful capture of action and facial expression as well. If I had to be picky, perhaps hands doing more flailing might also have helped to convey this phobia. Very well done.. one of my top picks for this challenge! Good luck!

WAY TOO MUCH BORDER! It takes away from the incredible photo!

Great image! Really does present a scary moment. Nicely done - though the border may be a bit much.

Water looks more inviting than frightening. The element of panic might be better asserted if a slower shutter is used to blur the man's struggle.

fantastic interpretation of the challenge, and I like the feel you gave it. The colors inparticular are intriguing, and then the black towards the top seem to give it that fear of death feel. I don't know exactly what it is about it, I just think you did a wonderful job at achieving the overall feel for the challenge. Perhaps the best interpretation I have seen yet. GL.

Yup I want this one, great action, color lighting, and that vague sense of menace that really gets a phobia going. One of two tens in the challenge, I hope to see it just above mine on the ribbon stand

This poor guy looks like he has a darn good reason to fear drowning....looks way past a phobia (i.e. an unfounded fear).
Very nice colors, but I don't care for the very chunky border.

Gutsy, really good photographically and you have included the fear, not just the object. The dark and light are really dramatic, you're going to be in the ttop 20 at least I would think
