Portrait of my Sister-in-law at her wedding on the family ranch this past Saturday. She needed a cheap (free) photographer, so I filled the bill. My first real experiment with any kind of portraiture, so I was pretty pleased with the result. Fortunately, the weather cooperated with an interesting storm brewing, and the scenery speaks for itself.

Technical:
Underexposed by -0.9EV, and used the onboard flash (ugh!) to properly expose the bride. The result was a nice contrast and interesting sky, in my opinion, without sacrificing the highlights of the bride.

The only PSP8 adjustments were contrast/brightness, slightly bumping up the saturation, and two passes of USM at 1.25/80/5 and .5/150/15.

Very nicely done portrait. I read your comments and one thing you might want to try with PSP8 is an unsharpening mask it might bring the eyes out a little more. That being said the photo is truly very good there really isn't a lot to change with it. You might want to try cropping just below the sleeve, and also I hope you got a photo with that background of the entire gown. It is so simple and yet very elegant looking.

Your focus is good as is the dof used, and it definately meets the challenge. Your sister-in-law should love this wedding day portrait.

I think a more effective shot would have been to crop out the bottom of the image right below the lower left sleeve. The background subjects of the mountain and sky are very strong elements and I wish they were blurred more so as not to compete with the bride.

The lighting here is wonderful, the use of flash gave a lovely low to the dress and the sky is very atmospheric. Nice shot!

Fill in flash works well in this case. Nice portrait.

This seems like a really wierd place to see a bride. I find the storm clouds ominous given the subject.

Very nice portrait. Excellent lighting. Doesn't really scream "country", but it is a welcome break from cows and horses ;) I suck at taking portraits, so ignore me if I'm talking nonsense, but I would've tried not to cut the blushing bride off at the knees. =6

Nice background, but the lighting on the bride looks a little unnatural given the lighting of the background. She is well lit, just doesn't fit well with the background. Good creativity however, and unique!

She is so well lit that she looks super re-imposed almost. I kind of like it though and it's a lovely background for a wedding photo. Great clarity and detail in this shot - I suspect you take photo's professionally.

The greens look a little over-done on this...can't tell if that's the lighting, or if you slid your hues post-processing. I think it may be the lighting, as it looks a little flat. Nice backdrop...hope the clouds aren't a bad omen :)
