Great Shot O. Adding to favourites (when I work out how).

Great shot. As a coincidence I uploaded a very similar shot to your entry only 3 days after you.

Would've been a tad embarrasing had I entered the free study as yours is much nicer than mine:)

This is really a nice close-up of a pelican. It is well done. I just wish its beak hadn't been cropped off - my brain just wants to see the whole bird head.

This pelican really "pops" out against the black background. Filling the composition with the main subject really works well for we get to enjoy the bold yellow that adorns the eye and all the other details such as the 'texture' of the fine featheres seen on the neck and the back of the head. Well done.

8 - Nice color capture. Like the crop. Criticism; possible white/contrast issues, but difficult I imagine in a shot like this. The black background is 'odd', but works nevertheless. Seems a few 'somethings' bottom left, with adv.editing perhaps cloning them out, who knows. The sharpness on the beak is good, perhaps just a fraction sharper on the eye, also that 'hair' at the back, 'somehow' detailed/texturized a little more, would likely have made this even better, in my opinion. Not sure, but looks like perhaps you did try to selectively do something with that 'hair', looks like a bit of 'shadowing', or something, not sure, could just be an odd 'bokeh', who knows. edit:typo

Great clarity and detail here. Nice composition. Creates a really nice vertical across the image. I really like the contrast against the black background. Nice job.
