Challenge: Self-Portrait Revisited (Classic Editing)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE 7i
Location: Bedroom
Date: Jun 13, 2003
Aperture: F3.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1"5
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Jun 13, 2003

This was the very first shot I took. I took many after that, but I still liked this one the best. The only post-shot adjustment was cropping. This is also my first attempt at a self portrait, now you can see the reason I stay BEHIND the camera ;)

I like the composition, but the focus seems a bit soft and needs more contrast.

Not good focus, otherwise, good.

The expression on your face doesn't seem quite right for a self portrait, but the lighting and soft focus are very well done

Great post. It almost looks like an old photo. The picture seems a bit out of focus. not sure what could have happened because it looks like the timer was set. maybe you moved when the shutter when off. Nice lighting. good luck.

Blurry, which is a minus, and not enough contrast between the hair and the background, but I like the almost painterly pose.

A classic look. When I saw this, I immediately thought of the commissioned paintings of royalty you might see over the fireplace in some elite home. I'm torn on whether I find the softness of the focus a distraction or whether it evokes a romantic feel. Remember the old-time movies when the close-ups of the starlette were slightly out of focus? That's what this looks like and it's not altogether a bad technique.

The soft focus works well. Unfortunately I find the earring too bright and my eye keeps getting drawm to it.

Hi there,
This photo has that old fashoned look to it. Too bad the focus is a little soft. I'm not sure that your hand there adds to this shot. I would have cropped this one so there are more "Lead in" rather than have you centered in the middle.

I suspect, this portrait may not fare as well here as, IMO, it should. The focus is very 'soft'. The hand, perhaps, a tad too cut off, the frame quite massive, considering the size of the picture. Yet, I like it quite a bit, because of the turn of the century manner and, not least, the sincerity communicated by both manner and subject. > 6

Godd use of b&w, I really like the soft focus and simple elegance of your shot. Demonstrates a longing. It also speaks of self confidence and your beauty. I think photography should communicate a feeling and i think you have done that very well.

nice portrait position, like the old portrait paintings. I like ti. maybe it is a little bit blurry and out of focus but it is OK.
