Well last week was my co-worker Zia. This week it's my buddy Mike. Some might recognize Mike. He was the "paranoid" looking guy in my Conspiracy Challenge.
I took this inside a storage room with the shelves used to create the shadows. A small desklamp was used foir lighting in an otherwise pitch black room.
I'm not sure how this will do for this challenge but I really like his look. Almost like a Humphrey Bogart look.

Let me start by saying that I'm no expert at portrait photography. I do think this is a good portrait but for some reason, my eye keeps getting drawn to the light spot on his forehead.
Nice portrait. I can't decide if I like the shaodw in the back though. And I feel while the light is ncie and adds to the character of the picture, I wish the darks ide of his face was just a bit lighter. It may also just be my monitor. Good job
A very moving portrait and a particularly effective use of grain to complement the desolate, dark mood. Everything about it is subtle and slightly understated; the man's expression, the lighting and the processing. And paradoxically, this understatement adds to the emotional impact of the photograph. 8
I think you have used grain to achieve a moodiness to this picture and it has worked well for you. Great to see shots that use grain to enhance a feeling.
Well done.
