I'd call this an assisted self-portrait. We were at a friend's wedding and Pete was getting the camera and tripod ready to take pictures of the fireworks about to begin. I directed him to take a long exposure portrait of me so that I could record various shapes as I moved the sparkler.
For processing of the RAW file I set exposure for the sparkly areas and at 16 bit since I was going to do some serious levels adjustment in photoshop. I then selected everything but the highlights and did a selective levels adjustment to lighten the darkness and bring me more clearly out of the blackness. And a crop too. Then took it to 8 bit and saved.
Reminds me of a couple I did during July 4th. I entered one of my daughter in the Circles challenge, and the other is in my portfolio of my other daughter making a star. Show us some of the other shapes! That's a great job! :)
