Challenge: Reflections Without Mirrors II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Panasonic DMC-FZ20
Location: home
Date: Oct 16, 2005
Aperture: F8.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/30
Date Uploaded: Oct 16, 2005

Natural light reflected on the floor, together with the magnifying glass and its reflection, onto a door. A drop of distraction (hopefully not more) remains on the magnifying glass that I should have removed. The stone line at the bottom might be a distraction too.

I'd give it a 6 myself, 6.5 at best :)

First of all.. does it fit the challenge? YES very much so... lovely idea and execution for this challenge!

Ok.. onto specifics...

I really like the lines that flow throughout this image... I think they are quite interesting, and I get absorbed in them as I look it over. The fact that the one thing that is giving the reflection is the only thing that is round, adds to this image... everything else is incredibly straight.

Colorwise, I like the neutrality of it. Very nice job with exposure. As you mentioned that lighting could have been a little better, so that you didn't get that hot spot on the door... but I do like how you got the darker shadows kind of surrounding the reflection at the bottom, helping the eye to be drawn to the main subject.

Compositionally I think I sould have liked maybe just a little more space to the right and above, placing the magnifying glass on the sweet spot on the rule of thirds. I think though that this is fairly interesting composition wise.

Overall I really like the image... the neutral tones are a big part for me in what makes this image work - and the interesting lines, make it an image I could ponder over for quite a while. Nicely done!

This is a very interesting picture for what is in it. Aesthetically, I find it lacks a bit.

The interest factor might be piqued a bit by rotating 180 degrees? Not for sure, try it out?

I like all of the different levels of the composition- the foreground, the shadows, ad the highlight reflections. The shadows look like a pair of maracas!

I l'ike this one because it appears as if the lens is floating. A neat trick used in architectural design as well. Kudos.

I first I was going to give it a lower score, kinda plain, but the longer I looked at it the better I liked it.

Really interesting. Makes you want to try and figure it out. I like the warm glowing light. What is it?? LOL I can't wait to find out after the challenge is over. Looks like the cover of a mystery novel. 7
