Hi Brent!

Greetings from the Critique Club:

Composition: You have a very nice picture here that could definately be on the cover of your selected magazine. However, I do agree with some of the comments that you recieved concerning the towel and railing issue. I do believe that the railing is the most distracting of the two. It really does get in the way of the scene in the background. In any event, the model is nicely posed with nice colors. The clouds are beautiful.

Technical: Is is nicely cropped and the focus is good. I do agree that the colors are bland and could be brought out better by some adjustment to contrast. Otherwise it is a nice photo, in my opinion.

Challenge: Definately meets challenge. With the improvements, I could very easily see this on the cover of a magazine.

Keep up the good work with your photography. I checked out your profile to see some of the other things that you have done. I really like your Fenway picture. Will be anxious to see what else you come out with.

I hope this critique is helpful to you.

Connie

Suggestion: remove the white towel during photography as it distracts from photo; otherwise - great idea.

If there were a way to get the railing out of the shot, or at least prevent it from cutting across the beach and buildings, this would be a better picture. Maybe raise the camera higher?

Beautiful shot of the landscape and the beautiful woman. I also like the DOF here. While I don't find the inclusion of the cell phone towers to be objectionable, I think the towel the woman is laying on is too bright, poorly laid out and very distracting and should have been removed prior to taking the photo.

Godd depth of field... somewhat overexposed... a polarizer may have helped

A nice, balanced photo. The rail's a bit distracting but I think you did a great job making do with what you had.

Unfortunately, with the overcast sky and dull colors, I don't think this would be appealing enough for the front cover of travel and leisure. I wold also prefer this cropped 1/2 way down the mountain. Bring out eyes down into the shot. Maybe you could boost the colors with some saturation and brightness/contrast levels.

Nice shot, beautiful scene. Especially the foreground;)

Perfect for that magazine. I was seeing too many shots for this 'zine without the token "lazy person" on the cover. Might be tough to crop for a magazine cover though, but it's so close anyway. Great job.

maybe the haze desaturated the colors but I think a magazine would have more color.

Pity about the railins, otherwise a 9!

Nice shot! Very good balance/placement within the frame - the woman, the railing, the hilltops, cutting it neatly.

I know it was probably hot so this may not have been possible, but I believe the tower takes something away from the picture. Re-shooting it without the towel may work just a bit better.

Nice travel! Great leisure!

I'm not sure why - perhaps because of the fairly harsh lighting casting shadows, but your model looks like she is floating or pasted into the picture, esp around her left leg.
