...old school style...no princess crap, no silly fairy/angel geegaws and no fancy fancy foo foo...just little girls, plain and simple, having a grand old time.

And...ya gotta love a young girl who can perform a wipeout on her banana seat chopper style bicycle, then get up and giggle about it!

...that's cool...

...now pass the popcorn tinkerbell...

...to blur or not to blur...that is the question...

I still like the idea of the blur...

Difficult to determine the celebration in the image,

there's a nice atmosphere in this photo. but the selective blur (not sure if you did that) is a little too obvious for me.

Great 1950ish feel to this photo. Bumping up after second look.

I like the look and feel here, escpecially in B&W.
Everything says time capsule - old cars, old bikes, etc.
One minor ding that I noticed, is the use of selective blur in the background. Needs to be gradual, getting more out of focus appearing as it goes further away, and section between the girls was missed, and the girl standing up has blurry hair at the top - oops! (6)

This image has a great sense of innocense associated with it, and appeals to the ideals of old fashion 'Americana'. The depth of field looks a little unnatural to my eye but it serves to assist the overall essense. One of my favorites of the challenge.

I like this: 7 .... It looks like the background stuff is manually blurred --- If so, it probably was a pain to do - so sorry for pointing it out. The girl looking at the camera makes tjis nostalgic to me.

clarity/contrast/color: 2/2
composition,POV,DOF: 1/2
effort+originality: 1/2
theme appropriate: 1/2
aesthetic timelessness+emotion: 2/2

This is a great shot, although I am not sure how it fits the challenge. There is something definitely very cool about it.

Let me start off by saying that I dislike the post processing blur, it just never looks the same as having a shot in short DOF. However, I bet I would have liked this image less if you hadnĀ“t added the blur so if you HAD to do it afterwards, this would be the exact image to blur. I like everything else about the shot and great job on the b/w conversion, looks very film like wich is a huge compliment as digital b/w usually looks so dull. 9 from me.

neat subject matter but I'm not crazy about the way it's been edited; the blurring of the background is too obvious; wonder what it would look like in color

Woe, even the bikes are vintage. Check the datestamp! ;)

fun photo. like the composition. i don't know if this was intentional but the background looks like it was hit with a blur/softglow effect in certain areas, and the blur effect is a bit distracting to my eye.

What a great image, so much atmosphere, maybe I would crop off a bit of the background trees to take the subject away from the centre of the image - good luck

Looks like this is a step back in time....all the cars I see are old....even the bikes look retro-70's ish. U used to have a Schwinn with a banana seat just like that one on the left but it had streamers on the handlebars. Technically, this photo needs work.......you applied a blur that takes away from the photo rather than adding to it, IMHO. And there are several distracting hot spots that draw the eye to them rather than the subject.

outstanding. I could point out all the things I like but I would be here all morning. The focus effect is the most engaging element, but the nostalgic charm runs a close second. Good luck!

the blur looks really fake, but this is a piece of beauty, 8

A pretty obvious job of artificially blurring the background, but I still like it overall. Nice focus and toning.
