Aloha Eric

Please keep in mind I'm not a trained professional ...

Composition
I like the formation, too bad the trailing jet isn't a tad higher but you have very little control over that. I agree with the others who've stated more pixels are needed on the right, I think less magnification and a near-pano crop may have been the ticket for this orientation of the jets.

Technical / Post Processing
My feeling is that you pushed the limits of your lens and did what you could PP to bring out the planes. I may be wrong, only you know, but that is the feeling I get looking at the photo. The overall color is off (as others have mentioned). Some selective color editing would really make this photo pop - give the sky a bluer blue, the yellows less orange. The halo is distracting, cloning that out would have helped.

Aesthetics
I do not find the photo aesthetically displeasing, however I find it lacks a pop.

Relevance to Challenge
I find the Blue Angels to be relevant to the challenge. They might have been a much better fit and more widely accepted in the recent "Pride" challenge.

Overall
Overall I think this is a nice photo that could have scored much higher had you employed a different crop and did some selective color editing.

I always enjoy seeing your photos and you have quite the excellent portfolio, I look forward to seeing your future work.

very good. I wish there was more room on the "right" side of the picture. This crop makes me feel as if the jets don't have enough room and will crash into the side if the photo!

this one doesn't really say Celebration to me, but the photo is technically perfect.

Nice stop action shot. That's some vibrant orange! For me though, this photo doesn't give me a sense of celebration as much as other entries in the challenge. I do like the off centered composition though.

Nice composition.
Kinda' feels like a bit of a stretch to say this is celebration.
Looks like perhaps a bit aggressive on shadow/highlights as the halo effect around the jets gives this an odd feel to it. (5)

The Sound of Freedom! That's what comes to mind when I see this photo.

I'm sorry, but the Blue Angels as a submision in every second challenge has worn a bit thin. They're right up there with the cat, the dog and the baby.

I think this would work better with a more dynamic background. If there were any clouds in the sky or ground objects that could have been included, having these in the composition would add interest. The haloing separates the jets, but the colors still blend together too much. The yellow looks like there's a bit too much magenta.

Interesting contrast. Celebration?

i appreciate that it must have been difficult to get this shot, but the haloing i see around the planes detracts from this a bit. also i would increase the brightness a bit.

i knew someone would enter a blue angels image :) i have to be a bit honest here and say that this image doesn't strike me at all. the USM is too much evidenced by the halos around the planes. the sky tones are dull. i think a good crop would have improved this image. maybe if it were cropped at a diagonal then the mood would be a bit different. i have some blue angels images in my portfolio. why don't you drop by and take a look.

I saw something very similar in the Pride challenge and thought, that it would be better cropped, so that only planes and sky would stay - exactly like this (though, would the rules allow it, I would move the planes a bit to make the pattern more regular), 6

looks like there's some chunky dodging going on. Trying to rescue a dark image. Expose for the planes, not the sky.

the orange looks oversaturated...to the point of being distracting, in my eye. with the grey sky, i wonder how this picture would have looked as a b&w?

This is a really good capture of the Blue Angels. There seems to be a bit of a halo around the planes, so you might want to make a separate layer of just the planes to do whatever sharpening and dodging you like -- that way, it won't affect the sky around them. Still, very nice shot!

I am trying to figure out what you did to this picture, the Blue Angels have blue and gold planes. The gold should look more yellow then orange. Plus too much unsharp mask used it made a glow around the planes.

them's glowing jets! A little dodging to the sky would have been nicer here. I'll bet it was a fun show to shoot thought!
