I remember it clearly like it was yesterday.

I was hungry and looking for a snack while strolling along Pike Place Market when I was charmed by the music of this guy weilding his harmonica and guitar. I was so enthralled by his music that I forgot about my hunger and proceeded to walk towards his direction.

This was shot in front of the original Starbuck's Coffee house with his lazy dog by his side.

What captured me the most was the look in his eyes. The more I look at his eyes, the more pain I see, probably stirred from memories of yesterday.

Here's a poem written by jsas for this image. My heart felt thanks to you my friend.

Dreaming of Yesterday

He wears pain and affliction on his face,
Like an old companion's affection misplaced.
The scars of hopes and dreams of yesterdays
Are brought to life in the music he plays.
He looks through you with stoic eyes,
A far off stare, a passioinate compromise.
Regret is stirring with self-condemnation,
No self respect lives with alienation.
Life's ambition has all but withered away,
Leaving him "Dreaming of Yesterday."

This is a particularly poignant image... one that reminds me of the countless number of similar souls I have encountered over the years. One can almost feel the pain this individual has experienced simply by gazing at his eyes.

Very moving image.......you have done well in revealing the soul.

Rikki, You need to do a newspaper column. Nothing much, just a photo and a little story like this one, (if you don't do this sort of thing already!).

Really nice idea here and once again, I love the composition. I'm a little disappointed that I can't see the eyes better, since you mention them. I'd like a little more light under that hat.

This is a great shot. The look in his eyes makes me think that he's reminiscing of a loved one long gone.............alot of feeling.

Great story and excellent depiction with the use of the script. This might be fun in sepia with a soft grain too.
