Exposed for the water with a ND 2-stop filter. Didn't want to blow it out, but wanted as long an exposure as possible to cause the silky water. Turns out the best was about -2/3rd stop.

A fair amount of post-production. Mainly fiddling with levels, selective saturation (green), contrast, USM, then neat image, then USM again.

Really hoping for a 6.5 on this one (would be my first). There I said it...I'm on record...so when it comes back 5.2 I can really have egg on my face.

POST: WOW! I am apparently on a roll with 3 Top 10s now in last 3 attempts. Still, thanks for putting me in my place. This was my first AND LAST attempt at an "internal" frame...

I lived in Oregon for five years in the late 90's and I've seen a large number of Multnomah Falls images and after awhile they all start looking the same, but this one...I like the work you put into this one. It gave a new a refreshing look that kept my eyes moving through the verticals, picking up the action in the diagonals and the X pattern from corner to corner gives the illusion of a butterfly...at least that's what I saw!! Great Shot!!!

fyi 7 exceptional for a waterfalls..... as the environment remains as the subject - the water though captured possibly a bit slow is subliminated or at least visually balanced by the beautiful hillside.

Greetings from the Critique Club

With a score of 6.76, I think you achieved what you wanted with this image. You have lots of comments that tell you what our voters thought about your image.

So, there is very little left that a member of the Critique Club can do for you.

I would go on record as saying that "postcard" border, while dramatic, does detract from the overall impact of the image for the purposes of this Challenge.

Other than that, keep doing what you are doing and enjoy your experience at DPChallenge.

I thought the border was great, made it look like A postcard. Love that waterfall!

Throw me in the group that goes "pee-yew!" at the heavy inline border on an otherwise truly outstanding image.

Somehow I've missed that when in Oregon -- I'll have to check it out.

If you want the border that heavy, I think it would look better with the outer part of the photo faded back, since it seems to be intended to be less important. If I were going to frame this at all, I think I'd rather fade the outside and omit the line, or use one just a couple of pixelswide in white (or maybe even black).

the border is not really needed , the picture itself is great

I was there 2 weeks ago, it was much more red in the folage. You must have punched up the greens. Well done, but I would nix the frame IMO.

BEAUTIFUL waterfall. You may get some comments about the frame...it doesn't bother me, but I don't think a picture this lovely needs one either :-) Very otherworldly looking photo...beautiful.

Very effective. Not sure whether the item (log?) in the foreground helps or hinders but otherwise an astounding photograph.

This has beautiful tonality. Love the blues and greens. The water is like velvet. My only critique is that the bridge isn't level. I'd straighten it so that it's parallel with the bottom edge of the photo. Nice frame too!!
