Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Beverages (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
Date: Sep 24, 2005
Aperture: F/3.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/500
Galleries: Candid, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Sep 24, 2005

@18 mm., matrix metering, aperture priority, hot-shoe mounted flash set to balanced fill, hand-held.

Processing with Photoshop 7: Heavy crop (As I was shooting a few stock-oriented pictures, I wasn't looking for this type of composition. This came as an afterthought. Therefore I had to crop out quite a large part of the frame), B&W conversion with Channel Mixer, Levels, Curves, sharpening.

These guys (and gals) called "Venenciadores" are expert wine/sherry pourers, and this photograph was taken during their show in downtown Jerez as part of the autumn festival. The street was full of tipsy spectators.

Love it. My only comment, do a little editing and take his name badge out of there. My eye is almost immediately drawn to that big white badge on black jacket. Other then that I think this is a great shot.

Very nice and authentic. A pity that the tree is such a distracting background for the main action. For me, it could have been a winner if you would have been positioned one meter more to the right.

I would have loved to see the pouring without it being right in front of the tree...it's a little distracting but i know that with a candid shot it's not possible to control the background. On that note, I think that its a fun shot that is great for being candid. The contrast is just right in my mind.

The strongest point of this photo for me is the waiter himself. It's the nice contrast of his dark suit, hair and eyes against the rest of the photo. Eventually my eyes follow his along the line to the liquid, but invariably, they go back to him.
