 I have seen this shot performed before both on DPC and in photography books. I wanted to give it a shot in B/W. I think it is harder to pull off without color, but I think the leading line and mountain assist in doing so. This is in Rocky Mountain National Park and that mountain in Long's Peak, a 14er. Hope you like!

This is a very interesting picture!
Good vantage point of this very barren landscape.
I don’t think that the coldness (black & white) of this picture really fits a “happy retirement” but the picture certainly is beautiful. Good overall job! :>)

My attention is drawn to the mountain, which seems like a rocky trail for retirement. Otherwise a nice picture. Were the edges darkened on purpose, or just something with the lighting?
