Challenge: Perspective II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z1
Location: At home, in my room

This was one of many shots, one of many stressful ones at that. Some would focus on the inside of the can, others on the lips and face, and leave the rest too blurry to care for.

Here's what I did:

I took an empty soda can and cut it in half, rinsed the insides and dried it. I stood in front of a window facing a sun and aimed the camera lens through the wrong end and just shot away, one after the other, most of them aimed up at my mouth. I had around seventy of these shots before I finally chose this one, settled for it and went editing.

Crop
Sharpen
Contrast
A lot of fussing with lights and darks
Graduated tint
3x film grain for a grungy look
reGraduated tint
Final product

I don't know where I got the idea. Probably some desire to create an odd perspective photo. I saw it in my mind and went for it, and that's usually where a lot of my shots start: in my mind.

Definately a different perspective here. I think this is very effective in making what could be an ordinary photo neat by using perspective.
That being said, it's a bit hard to tell what were really looking at at first, but if you really study it, it's pretty obvious.
Focus does seem a bit soft, the grain doesn't add anything to the photo in my opinion and I can only wonder what this would look like in color. may be easier to tell what it is we're looking at.
I really like this though, the idea is spot on what I would expect to see in a perspective challenge.
