Greetings from the Critique Club
This is a good portrait. In every portrait, the eyes are the most important aspect. Here her eyes draw us into the photo as we ask ourselves what thoughts and emotions lie behind them. I think the strength of her eyes alone make this photo rise above the 6 mark in the voting.
Possible (stress on possible) suggestions for improvement:
1. Hot Spots/Highlights: This was an advanced challenge, so you could easily clone out the 2 hot spots on the tip of her nose (kind of like a second set of nostrils). I would also at the same time remove/fix the highlights in her right eye (only want one). At the same time, you might see if you could fix what seems to be the beginnings of a spit bubble at the corner of her mouth.
2. Crop: This also deals with the use of the scarf to frame the person. There is a certain formulaic use of the scarf (especially recently on DPC) which works. In this instance, I think you didn't realize the full potential of it because of the tightness of the crop. The scarf needs a little more room around it to really effectively frame the face. As it is, especially on the left side, it is just some red cloth.
3. Lighting: I do think a little more in the way of diffuse lighting would help, maybe a reflector to reflect some white light back up into her face would help as well. This would really help the right side of her face where the shadows have a reddish tint to them from the cloth.
Overall Impression: I do agree with the voters, this would have been a 6 for me had I voted, with the catchlights/highlights fixed may have bumped up to a 7. I really think you did an excellent job on this portrait, and with a few quick fixes would be even better.

46th place out of 285 entries is pretty good, but as I look at some of the "surrounding" entries I have think that maybe your photo shoul've rated higher. |

This is a really enjoyable portrait. Her disgruntled expression and the way the bangs sweep across her eye is lovely. Her skin is flawless and it looks like you captured her just wonderfully. |

I think little red riding hood may be wise beyond her years. Well captured and presented. Superb focus and DOF. Superb composiiton. Pretty girl. What more could you want? Among my top picks! |

The hair hanging down is what "makes" this shot for me. It just gives it that little something unexpected that really makes you take a second look. Gorgeous color. |

Please let me begin by saying this is only MY opinion...this is probably the 11th image I have encountered like this thus far, in this challenge alone...I'm not talking all of DPC...this "formula" is quite legendary...the head wrap, the gaze, "innocence"...but it is rather teetering on becoming a cliche...she is such a lovely little girl...perhaps I am wrong about the "formula" use here...yes, she is little red riding hood, yes...I like that...little red riding hood and she is confronting the big bad wolf...now that would be an intriguing idea! Imagine an entire series of such images...what fun! : } |

not sure of the title, as the expression on her face is almost the opposite. very stern expression on her face. technically perfect, although wish there was a bit more light to bring the blue/grey out of the right eye more. 6/10 |

I like the look you captured. The red on the left seems somehow out of place. I think I would have shown a little wider view it tied together with the right. |

I like the expression. I don't like the post-processing (but don't worry, I don't like it a ton on the others either. 7 |

Aside from the bit of red on the left (which I think would be better if cropped out) I find this a really nice portrait entry. Good luck, I hope this does well for you. |

Pretty model, and nice catchlights in her eyes! The lighting on the face is nice too! IMO, though, the expression is a little too intense to speak of innocence. I also wonder why the red shawl/scarf is used, since it does not add to the picture in any way except to give it a snapshotty look. I'd also have left more space on the top and less at the bottom, to focus more easily on the eyes. |

if I had to pick a single word to describe this photo, it wouldn't be "innocence" - she appears to be pouting more than being innocent. |

This is well done. I like the lighting. Her eyes are clear as a bell. The hair in the face is a nice touch. I might've cloned out the saliva in the corners of her mouth but otherwise, nicely executed. |

The portrait itself is good. Nicely composed. A couple of items give me cause for concern. Based on the title and he "Red Hood", you were trying to get a sweet shot ... or maybe yo were trying to be ironic. But the serious expression and the red-eye really don't work IMHO. |
