Thank you for all your comments. I knew this shot wouldn't go over too well, but so be it. Thanks karmat jmsetzler, the line from the top of the fence didn't bother me when I was picking my pic, but it was probably a too close to see the forest kind of thing since I narrowed down about 60 or so photos (and mostly picked this one because of the way the tree and the pole blurred so beautifully giving a real sense of speed and even a little rotation from the tree) and never really noticed that the black line of the fence top was a strong line dividing the photo.
Yes it was a 'grab shot' partly because I was driving at the time going ~35-40mph down the city street along the cemetary with my camera in my hand out the window, but I did take many many shots, quite a few over the same subjects (circled the long block a half dozen times, the cemetary is about a mile long).
I also wish I had captured the graves with less blur, but it wasnt going to happen with the camera lighting vehicle conditions so it didnt bother me too much because I loved the overall idea quite a bit so I used the best I had that conveyed what I wanted.
What I was going for was a photo which could convey a number of different things to viewers but not limit them including (a non-exahustive list) :
the contrast of the stillness of the cemetary and the speed of travelling past it,
the contrast of the living travelling person to the final resting place,
that we are all on the road but eventually stop,
that we are all travelling but end up 'nowhere' all too quick,
the dangers of driving while using a camera ;), etc.. |

| I almost wish ther was a hedge blocking the foreground headstones, leaving only the rearward unblurred ones to go with he motion blur of the foreground foliage & fence. |

Love the humor here! Shot is kinda plain I guess though.. But I give ya a score above average.

I see what you were going for, but the effect makes me a little ill (weak stomach). Your motion object (read:tree) is maybe a bit too close and the fence almost blurred out of existance, but enough to hurt the image (my boss had the same reaction, w/o my help). (Small nit: reflection in middle of frame)

| It's really interesting how you were able to get some of it in focus, and some of it not. Makes it look like the tree is moving very fast, and the tombstones are frozen (an interesting metaphor). You may or may not have had control of the black pole-thing in the middle and the black horizontal stripe, but it gives the impression that you shot on the fly without considering composition. |

| This is an interesting title for this photograph, considering the view is of the graveyard :) I think i get it :) The sense of motion in this photograph works really well for me... I know this could not be avoided but the iron post fence between you and the graveyard creates a nice blur, but the horizontal top of the fence sets a distinct horizontal break in this photo that is somewhat distracting. It took me a few moments to realize what I was looking at on that issue... thought for the day: In a photograph or any other piece of artwork, I don't think it's a good idea to leave your viewer wondering what they are looking at, not withstanding the issues with abstract art. Good job :) |

| I think I know what you are trying to do with this photo, but, unfortunately, to me, this is still jsut a blurry cemetery photo, that doesn't stand well on its own (w/out the title). |
