This image is straight out of the camera. No PP involved aside from crop and stroke.

I didn't even realize at the time I took this photo that there are these minute strands of fiber. I'll have to use some tweezers to take them out as they are very tiny pieces.

Shot using a macro coupler with the kit lens 18-55mm and a 50mm 1.8. This is a 50% crop of the original.

Very nice macro, of course the twiggie thing in there needs to go, but very sharp and crisp. Nice detail!

Love it! I hate to say this, but excellent sharpness. :-) I also love the color scheme - you can't go wrong with yellow, green and red. I would love to see another version of the same shot focused on the foreground points with a slightly smaller aperture - maybe f/8 or f/11. You'd still get decent bokeh, but more of the image would be in focus. Without a very specific point of focus that you're calling attention to with a shallow DOF, I usually find that it's better to go with a smaller aperture to increase sharpness throughout. Still, very nice photo, Rikki!

Great macro. Personally I'm not a fan of the fibers, but that's just personal taste.

The fibers add a contrast to the rest of the image that I don't think detracts at all unless you want to only focus on the sharp lines of the spikes.
