 Just playing around with some wildflowers I saw while walking home. This is part of my experimentation with studio lighting. I used 1-100W clear bulb and 1-100W daylight bulb with a light tent.

i like the position of the flower, the of-centered look. i don't know about the colors though, for some reason i don't like the color of the flower matched up with the black.

I like the colors - although a tad dark. The composition seems a bit off to me. I think I agree with what someone else said about there being too much stem and the flower should be lower - or maybe increase the top crop to include more space? I do like the fact that it's not a "typical" flower shot.

I think the picture has nice colors and i like the black background. However I believe the angle that you took the picture takes away from the photograph. If the flower would of been on a plane tilted more toward the camera it would of given us a better composition of the subject. The focus seems to be a bit soft but not bad. I hope this helps.

I really like the color of the petals and the sharpness of the image. Overall, it seems a bit dark though. Maybe a white background?

What works: colour and background, great contrast

What doesn't work: Even though the stem is coming from the corner and leading the eye into the image I feel that there is too much stem and the flower itself should be placed more in the lower left of the image.

Also, the image feels a little soft on focus and possibly slightly underexposed though strong colours are hard to get right, mainly reds and yellows of which orange is a derivative.
