Yep, it doesn't meet the challenge, does it? At least I made generous use of milk in creating the photo, and that's enough for me.

Raw conversion and intentional blow-out on the highlights.

This was, in my mind, one of the best shots period. gave it a 9.

Gave this an 8 - had to be a top 10 finish - but no. shame

I think this is a great photo, but I interpreted the subject as the mask. Your title "Visage" reinforced this. If you had titled it "Milk on my mind" or something like that, that would have changed my perception of the subject of the photo and I would have given you a very high mark.

I didn't realize the background was milk either. Amazing work. You deserved a much higher placing.

Wonderful shot. In terms of votes, subtlety doesn't pay as well as "in your face". I hope you are prous of your shot anyway.

Wow. Looking at it in retrospect I think I should've scored this higher. My apologies--as really stylistically this beats all the cows hands down. Maybe because I was getting so used to the bovines & glass bottles (all obvious) I didn't realize the milk as backdrop.

Either way, this is a beautifully done photograph. If I could've gotten through all the dairies this time around I may have come across this again and upped the anty. My apologies that I didn't give you at least an 8 or 9.

Brilliant. I should have voted to give this a 10.

Very cool image. I'm glad this was brought up as an "underated" in a thread. Killer work!

proof that art is not appreciated. this was my 10 from the moment i saw it. sorry, how this did not end under the top 3 is beyond me!

I'm sorry, I just don't get how anyone can think this WASN'T pertaining to the challenge. I thought this was a great photo and a VERY creative use of a DAIRY product. Technically and creatively a great picture that should have scored much higher.

A very strong visual in its own right, and I can see the milk (I presume) around the eyes, but it's not really "about" dairy IMO. A 6 on the appeal factor.

nice. i suppose that's milk that the visage is blending into? 8

I gave you a ten because you used milk in a very strange way, in a way that I've never seen before. This photo is very simple yet alluring, and the off-center mask gives the milk ambience. I applaud you for such creativity. Well done.

Very interesting approach to the challenge. I like your creativity. I rated this a 5, but had it not been essentially a photograph of existing artwork I would have rated it much higher.

Creative approach to dairy, putting a mask into milk. Nice clean image; Focus, Color, Composition- all good. The milk coming out from the eyes is cool looking.

cool photo - dairy seems to be secondary to the mask though.
still dairy is there, and the photo is interesting. should fare well...

With a quick glance, it appears that the photo doesn't meets the challenge. But in the eyes looks something like milk. But all the photo it's to white to find that. Maybe a little more use of some shadows.

It took me a while at first to realize that there was actually milk in this picture. It's very creative, and I love the colors. Fantastic idea.

Fit Challenge Criteria: 1/2
Contrast/Color: 2/2
Composition: 2/2
Photo Quality:2/2
My Subjective Affinity: 1/2

I assumme that the mask is floating in milk, but it is not completely evident. I really like your idea and presentation. The off-center composition is great, and the colors on the mask work well with the photo. Nice work.

very interesting, but I can't exactly tell what it is... a mask partially submerged in something that looks like milk?

Excellent Idea, and the colours are perfect. Looks like skimmed milk.

I enjoy how you blended things well, but I'm not sure why I want to see a mask floating in milk...7

A darker mask would have worked better here, or maybe chocolate milk.

Nice, but what does this have to do with milk?

took me a second to realize the mask was immersed in milk. cool effect!! one of the more original in this challenge, i hope this does well! 8

this is sunk into a bowl of milk or something right? otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all. i'm going to assume that that is what i see in the eyes and faintly near the chin and vote on that assumption. nice image by the way! 9.

08/24/2005 05:33:44 PM
well.... dairy makes you think of white.... but this is a stretch. Great picture but doesn't really fit the challenge.

08/24/2005 01:50:12 AM
Nice picture but you have to look to hard to find the relationship to the challenge. Maybe you should've used choco milk or strawberry
  Photographer found comment helpful.
08/24/2005 12:34:18 AM
hope the milk didn't ruin your mask
I wish the milk had been higher on the right so it looked the same as the left...maybe put some packing under the left so the mask was more level
you had better request a DQ fast so you can get this validated quickly so as not to hurt your score as this may show up as digital art on some monitors gave you a 9

08/24/2005 12:20:19 AM
This is an awesome shot, but without the challenge title, I couldn't say it's milk, or milk related!
But still is wonderfull!!!! 8
