I disagree with the focus issue. The human eye is drawn first to movement, then to contrast then picks up the rest of the details. I read it on the internet - it has to be true.
So I think most of the population's eyes will be drawn to your subject first, then pick up the rest of the detail.
I think the focused leaves are a nice treat for the eye. Imagine it with all blur and just the bird - boring. They are a great detail for your eye to "run into" after looking at the subject. You did good. |

Love the dreamy effect you've got going on here. Nice DOF. I agree that the foremost leaves are a slight distraction, but only for a sec. The bird is great. |

I love hummingbirds. The only problem with this shot is that the leaves in the foreground are in focus and my eye is drawn to them. I think the are a little distracting. |
