I used a 1/30 second exposure and rotated the camera for this abstract shot of Black Eyed Susans. This is a hand-held shot and I turned my hands as I pressed the shutter. There is no editing filter effect applied to this photo.

Photoshop processing included Curves, Shadows/Highlights, Channel Mixer modification and then a little more Curves.

I'm excited to be participating in my first challenge here at DPChallenge. I look forward to many more.

POST VOTING COMMENTS:
I just wanted to say thank you to all of those people who commented and especially to those that chose this photo as a favorite!!!

My first challenge and it was a very interesting process ... and fun! Even though this was my first challenge and I wasn't really sure of the process ... I kind of knew that this shot would get challenged because I thought someone might mistake this as a Radial Blur photoshop effect.

I had tried a few different variations, such as a simple panning motion, a swoop motion and turning both hands at the same time. For this shot, I tried to keep my right hand as still as possible while rotating my left hand CW around my right hand.

I have a favour to ask of those people who voted this a 1, 2 or 3 ... Please, could you leave a comment and explain your reasoning behind your vote. I'm very interested to hear your view point and see if there was something I could do to improve a photo like this.

Thanks again everyone!

An interesting shot but not one that tickles my fancey. A little to abstract for my liking but it does fit the challenge well. Good luck in this challenge. <5>

I'm guessing this was achieved by using a hollow tube with reflective inside and then rotating the tube?

Anyway, it's fun to see a creative shot in this challenge and even better that you manage to do this with such a cliche subject as a flower. :)

I hope you do well is this challenge!

this makes me dizzy. Is this shot through something or just spun as it was shot? Great idea.

I like the colours and the speed.
I am surprised that there weren't more shots that use this technique. Can't see the reason for validation.

Neat effect. Maybe a better title would have been Bkack Eyed Vortex, but I am not voting on title hee. I like the whirlpool effect.
