When I think of purple and green, Mardi Gras comes to mind, so it was only natural that was the first thing I thought of to do this challenge for Secondary Colors. I bought a plain purple mask and attached the feathers and sequins - added ribbons, and I had my subject. Taken in my home with two 150 watt lamps; adjusted the brightness and sharpened just a bit in Photoshop Elements 2.0.

I really like this. This is a really great nicely set up shot. The feel is fun, neat, and lively.
I think that if I HAD to chose something that could use work, it would be that I wish that some of the purple feathers didn't seem so dark. There was the suggestion of some extra lighting on them, which could work.
I think that a darker background is a bad idea, because the feathers on top are already dark, and the dark background would make this blend in too well, and make it a mushy mess. lol
The focus and clarity are good. I like the detail in the mask, and the sequins and ribbon are nice and crisp. Detail is simply great.
I like the angle and framing/cropping as well. The centered subject here is alright due to the angle of the mask. This creates the dramatic angle that I believe keeps it from being "too centered". Had the mask been straight, I think that would be boring and too centered, however, just that slight tilt was enough to make a world of difference.
Lighting is perfect. I like the little flecks of light on the ribbon and forhead ornament, and I like the shadows created by the mask, and ribbon.
Put this all together, and you have a really excellent image. And you do! I could see this on the front of a birthday card, or party invitation. As is, no changes. It's great.
Congrats on a job WELL done.

Good Work... It burns me up though when 10 people feel this is inferior work. This is good and did not deserve any 1, 2, or 3 marks. Keep up the good work and good luck on the upcoming challenges.

Beautiful colors, excellent subject. I REALLY like the details and the feel of this. It looks just randomly discarded. Excellent background choice as well. I can think of 5 total shots that are top 3 material - this is one of them! good luck!

Nicely done. Love the colors. The textures are really good. However, I wish it wasn't so centered. Overall, good job. 7 =-)

Looks fun! Can I join? :-) Nice composition. Purple feathers seem a tad dark resulting in lost details, but that could be the monitor I'm using now. Will have to take another look from home later.

Great photo...it really captures the festiveness and gaity of Mardi Gras. I love the extras you added to accomplish this, such as, the streamers on the sides and the sequence scattered about, all done very aesthetically. I also like the soft shadows. Only thing I would like to have seen, is a spot light on the feathers, or maybe some fill flash to illuminate the top feathers a bit better.

Excellently composed. The shadows in the "eyes" make it look alive.

Simple, fun, effective. Even though it is a set up shot with limited props, it does say Mardi Gras. Nice vibrant colors, those silks and glitters help. Good composition. 8

Perfect subject, love it. I'm not sure about the white background, though, maybe something darker. A lovely 9.
