I am so glad someone got a snake. I love the focus and emotion.

The strong composition makes up for the quality for me, good luck

Had voted this as a 7, going to explain why it isn't higher.

It's funny, for some reason this shot has really stood out for me. I think I'd have preferred to have seen this desaturated to look more B&W or greyscale. I do like the grain on it, think it adds something extra to it.

I copied the shot to my PC and had a little play with it (hope you don't mind) I desaturated it, ran neat image over it to smooth out some of the grain but then sharpened it. I then added a thin black border round the edges. It made the scales stand out a bit more, stopped the right hand side from fading away.

As I said, I do like this shot, maybe you don't agree with the changes I've suggested etc, PM if you like, but I personally feel a few wee touches in PS would have helped.

The image is a bit noisey, probably due to low light but I wouldn't take any points away fro that. Might be your equipment, and maybe you don't have Neat Image, who cares? The important thing is you took this at a nice angle, it's a good subject and since it's shot through glass, the focus isn't too bad. I think if you had more control over the environment and light, this could have been a lot better but it's still nice.

I might have cropped for head only. You really want the viewer's focus to be drawn to the snake's eye.

So nice except for the noise...

eeek! not to my taste, colors are in a nice range, appears grainy.

This is very nicely done, although there is a bit of grain. I am guessing you used a high ISO. Just a tiny little touch of NeatImage would help. Gives me shivers to be this close to a snake!

Looks more like poised to sleep, not strike.

I would sharpen the head even further. IT seems a tad grainy. GOod use of light and composition.

Since I am lacking in technical skills, I cannot give helpful comments. I am strictly a photo buff who is trying to improve, but as to telling you what is wrong or right, I am in no position to say. I am simply voting based on whether I like the picture or not. Sorry, maybe someday I will be able to give helpful advice
