Title: In a New York Moment, by dimitrii

Composition: You have an interesting composition, taken only by an experienced New Yorker. Having never been to NY, I probably would have been looking straight up and all of my shots would be from the low angle. Your perspective projects the definite feeling of the hustle and bustle of the big city from a point of view not normally seen in a postcard.

Technical: The intentional blur has a rewarding effect on the picture. You have used this effect to its fullest advantage to portray the feeling of the picture. Even with the camera movement to develop the blur, your focus appears to be dead on.

Challenge: You have an unconventional picture of the most popular city in the world. I am not sure if it would work to get people to come visit, or if it would cause them to stay away, but either way you have met the challenge in a very special way.

Suggestions: Your experience far exceeds mine and in my opinion you are a very good expressionistic photographer. I have no suggestions for your picture and keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing it with us.

This was my favorite this week, I wish they would start publishing postcards such as this one.

having the Cab frozen in time with the movement all about it would have given a very interesting shot. I like what you have done with the concept however!! 7

Good picture, not sure it would be a postcard. I like it anyway.

Great idea, and very well done. Just to nitpick, maybe a more modern/exciting font would be more appropriate?

I kind of dread cars and lots of traffic, but your bright colors and capture of motion really make this city seem attractive to me. Good thing: I\'m coming there in July/August! Nice work here! 10

I love it! I thought I already found my favorite in this challenge, but this might have replaced it! Very clever and well-executed. This is a postcard that I would actually buy. Your use of literal cliche, rather than photographic cliche, is outstanding.

besides the motion blur, I don't really get the feeling of NY from this shot. Maybe the cab is supposed to do? Great idea though, and the choice of portrait layout does make the whole scene seem more rushed, like a NY minute.

i like the image but i don't think that i would find it in a postcard rack. I think because my description of a postcard is something that you would want to go see. Your postcard doesn't do that for me. I know some postcards are different, but I'm pretty traditional.

Great photo - I wouldn't buy the postcard though

Good idea! Whenever I think of New York cabs are one of the first things I think of. You have done it well in a awesome panning shot and a fitting title, good luck!

Hey, great action shot to depict a very busy city. The dimensions might be a little tall for post card though. Maybe just chop off a bit of the top.

I've seen this shot done good & very good, but you've set the standard. Kudos.

Great picture! This sums up NY with all its energy much better to me than any picture of a monument (so often seen already). Colors are great, too. 10

Oh... this is sooo close to perfect - but misses by a point. Some part of the car would have had to be sharp - and it's so close...
05/05/2003 12:37:31 PM
Too much sharpening... probably to make up for blurry car... why didn't you go for the Crysler building!!!?
05/05/2003 02:54:08 AM
Like it a lot, although i would maybe have cropped a bit more of the bottom.

Great concept. Executed well too. Panning is definitely tough to get perfect. It'd have been nice if the taxi was a little bit clearer. Also I think a motion effect on the text would look great (though I'm not sure if that would have been legal). Nice shot
