An East African Crowned Crane struts it's stuff at the Denver Zoo. Just now, a few hours before deadline, I substituted this shot for my previous long horn sheep shot based on minor technical merits. I sure hope I didn't miss any technical problems that will cause this shot to be voted lower than the first image would have been.
I'm also trying to break the habit of submitting a photo taken on the last day for challenge, but today was the first day I could get out to shoot this week.

I almost entered a shot of this guy's cousins (African Black Crowned Cranes). You've got good DOF in the shot, but you lose a lot of detail in the blown out highlights. Also, I think you could crop it closer to bring out more definition in the bird and bump up the washed out colors. Don't get me wrong, it's still a pretty good shot...
