not really macro

nice, sharp focus. The foreground si distracting...perhaps a tighter crop would have worked here. The lighting is not particularly interesting, and the face seems a bit overexposed.

needs the brightness on the cats face/chest toned down - perhaps by tweaking the WB on your camera. Not really a macro or near-macro as you did not zoom in to a specific feature of this feline.

Ah! how did you photograph my cat! (no, seriously, he/she looks exactly like my cat).
either way, on a technical note:
for a light sorce, i'm not that fond of flashes because it makes the image a bit too harsh. and as for whether it meets the challenge or not, it may somewhat be a close-up, but not a macro in my opinion.
a nice attempt, just keep practicing.
good luck.

I pity the kitty who poses for a macro shot & comes away with a portrait. Give that animal its money back.

cute

Nice looking cat, the shadow in the forground takes away from the pic and the slight image of the cat in the upper right hand corner is distracting.

Nice close-up. Very pretty kitty with an intent expression. Just a tad overexposed in the white areas.

Sweet kitty, a close more of a portrait but not macro..

Good colors and lighting. The image looks a little oversharp for my tastes. Composition is good.

This is a lovely portrait of the cat. I feel it doesn;t fit a Macro comp too well though.

Pretty cat. I usually believe that in order to be considered a macro it should be larger than life. This doesn't qualify. I apologize if this is some type of miniture cat that I don't know about.

Nice shot of the cat, but there are blown highlights in the white fur and I don't see how this could be considered a macro. Still, it is a very nice pic of the cat.

I don't think this fits this challenge very well. Def a little blown out in the highlights as well.

I wish this were more of a close up. Looks like he's reading a book. LOL I love his wide eyed expression. The contrast and lighting is good, just zoom in a bit more.
