This was of course a matter of being in the right place at the right time. It's taken at Reykjavík Airport which only has domestic flights (no jets). I had wanted to take a photo of it landing, but since it landed on the other side of the runway I was only able to take a shot of it as it had stopped and was getting ready to turn off the runway. The effects are quite unintentional, but turned out pretty nice. I don't work at the airport but managed to squeeze my lense in between the fence surrounding the airport.
What a thrill it is to recieve such great encouraging comments and a ribbon to boost! Wooohoooo!!!!!
Quite a few comments mentioned that this shot might be used for an airline or travel brochure. I was actually able to use it on a recent project at work for Flyware.net a software company offering weight and balance solutions.
My photo gallery has some pictures taken on the same night.

| I don't like the size or the aspect ratio of this pic. I do however love the subject and the background. I'd have cropped the top of this off and made it a full size pic. Maybe even got rid of the white border too. This is a great capture and a nice pic to boot. |

| This would have gotten a 9 or 10 from me if the photo was cropped a bit from the top, so you see only from the top of the ground to the Tarmac, it would have allowed for more detail on the plane and sunset/rise.. 7 |

| The flares on the plane lights are interesting, and the silhouette of it really stands out against a wonderful sky. It's certainly an image I would expect to see in a holiday brochure or adorning an airport lounge. |

| Like the starburst effect, and the general composition, but a bit closer in might have helped, including cropping a bit off the top (which I feel is not really giving anything to the picture, and helps one focus more on the subject). |

| I've gone through tons of pictures now and this is the first 10 I've given. The lighting is dead on, the effects are great, and the subject is interesting. Most of all, I love the colors and lighting effects. Great job! |
