Hello from the Critique Club.

First of all this is an original idea for the challenge, but falls short of its potential.

The first thing that jumps out at the viewer is the severe, narrow crop. It's a little uncomfortable on the eye, it just feels wrong. Perhaps, as another commentator suggested, filling the frame would have greatly improved the composition.

The second thing that the viewer notices is the shallow depth of field. All the lovely molten metal at the bottom of your 'waterfall' is lost to the viewer and it seems a waste of a good subject. Whilst the detail, colour and texture of the molten metal that is in focus is really well captured, because it is the only area that is in focus it forces the eye to stop here. So you get a really static image.

But kudos for an original idea.

The molten metal (solder? lead?) has some great detail and, for me, it would have been more interesting if you could have filled the frame with (more of) it. As it i,s theres just too much clutter that destracts the viewer.

Focusing on the base of the image would have been very impacting.

I looked at this and voted on it last. Silver cooling to me. This is metal. It is a setup but l like what you have done. That flow with the shine and impurities makes the photo. Lighting would be difficult. Exposure is good to see those colors. I am impressed with the technique to set this up and the skill to capture it. Good luck.

my goal is to comment on every photo in this challenge..heres urs..good luck..great focus but i think this would have made a bigger inpact for me if the wold thing was in focus(not such a shallow DOF)

Something about this makes it rather bland. And it's such a good idea! Maybe cropping in really close on the interesting part is what it needs.

Nice highlights on the metal.

Neat topic but it took me a bit to decide that molten metal was pouring down the side of the metal block. I bet it was a challenge to get this shot.

Would have worked better with a deeper depth of field I think...
