Great shot,I think the b&w gives it just the right feeling.

Greets from the Critique Club:

Sorry Refracted.. not sure exactly what to say about this shot! I think it's simply stunning. The lighting is a bit harsh in places but I don't think it detracts at all - more like enhances the petels and makes them look silky. I absolutely love the composition. Great great stuff.

Good job and I can't wait to see your entries with the F717!

Very nice black and white. Beautifully composed. One of the more artistic photos in this challenge, that I've seen so far.

This is an excellent B&W macro. You can be very proud of this it is very good. You got the lighting bang on!

There is another picture just like this in the challenge but I personally like this one better. The B&W gives a great effect.

The glare kinda ruins it for me. Its not that it isn't natural or anything, but it sure makes it seem a lot less natural with that. Aside from that its a very nice shot.

Simple is better. The composition and lighting are great! Super choice for the challenge!

Good exposure of this lilly (white is hard, harder in B&W). The pestal and stamen show up much better at this angle than the other \"similar\" shot (this one is MUCH better. Comment removed, my bad). 8 Rob the Swash

I love the idea and it's a very good attempt. I just find that there's not enough range in tones in this image. I would have liked to see darker tones on the inside of the lily fading to lighter tones at the tips or vice versa.. it would help give some dimension to this flower. 6

Lovely night blossom. You really have captured its essence as a night-blooming flower, at least that's what the title and image tell me. The lighting may be a bit bright and harsh, taking away from the delicacy of the bloom, but this is a wonderful image.

beautiful photo worthy of framing, most flowers look best with their colors shown but the BW image shows even more.

Because there is another lily picture similar to this one, I can't help but compare the two. Where the other one was too dark for my liking, with this one, the brightness/contrast is well balanced. The focus and detail are perfect. Where the position is not entirely wrong with this one, I like the position of the flower better on the other one.

Love the shot, but have you made this into B&W? If so I think this spoils it a bit. Also it appears to have been a bit grainy. Otherwise I love it.

The flash really caused a harshness on an image that is crying for softness and detail. The is still a beautiful composition and use of B&W.

This is gorgeous. Would have preferred a more natural plant, so 9 rather than 10 as that's the only problem I have with it, even though it is in the flora kingdom.

A flower shot in B&W seems a strange concept to me, bu this works well.
The leaves are a bit distracting but otherwised this is great, well done.
