These are two quail standing on my backyard fence. For the last few days I have been trying to get a decent picture of them, but they fly off at the slightest hint of nearby movement. Today I was lucky enough to get a fairly close-up shot.

The light on these birds is rather harsh. The textures of their feathers and the fence would have been much better when viewed farther away from noon.

Great focus and DOF. I also like the texture of the wood. It's a pity the second bird didn't turn and smile for the camera.
