We have a duck pond near our house so I headed out to find some subjects for the latest challenge. I was delighted to find this one nestled in some leafy brush near the pond, nesting. She hissed at me but let me get a few shots of her. This was my favorite. Other than cropping, the lighting and filtering are natural.

Very nice picture. Love the detail and the out of focus leaves in front really add a nice effect!

You were lucky to get so close to her nesting, love the color and eye detail shame about the foreground leaf.

This was a good shot. The color hues are wonderful. Good Job.

Really nice shot of Mother Goose! :-) And I like the leaves in the foreground (with the exception of the one under her beak, but it's really not that much of a distraction to me).

Judy, I LOVE this picture. This is one of the ones that I thought would be way, way up there! I don't understand the voting sometimes -- I sure gave this one a high score. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of one of these birds close-up enough to see the blue, blue eyes -- contrasting so vividly with that yellow beak. I would be really proud to have this one in my collection!!!

The green leaves are distracting but sometimes you just can't help it:)

Although the green nicely complements the colors of the duck, the way that the foliage occludes the subject more than negates the benefit. Perhaps a slightly different angle and a wider crop would have accomplished a similar result without the green blurs in the foreground.

How many babies? I like that her eyes pick up the color of the background.

I was really drawn to the eye on this one, but the leaves really detract from the bird.

One of my favorite duck pictures. Highlights are a tad bright but still lovely. 7

Very nice but the leaves in foreground are disturbing a little bit IMHO...

kind of a Jurassic Park view. Too hot on the forehead feathers, not sharp enough, the leaf on the lower beak is distracting. But, I like the viewpoint, colors, and DOF. Nice job.

Nice shot, great eye! Your colors are really nice and love that it's a bird being a bird.
It's a goose ya know, a Toulouse Goose female. I used to own several.
