thanks for the comment Kavey. the "smudge" on the blade is the brand-name of the knife, i already commented on the image size that is aloud to upload, sometimes details are to small, the big picture is sharper and looks better (more pixels).
the rest is an matter of taste...

I am commenting on this image in a reaction against the attempt by some to limit the content of DPC to images that conform to their idea of acceptable.

This challenge has highlighted how hard it is to convey the decision aspect of an action rather than the action itself, though I don't think yours is weaker than average in that regard. What I like about the shot is the use of light and shadow to create mood and to also imply the darkness of the drive to suicide. I also like the composition. Things I dislike include the somewhat glaring thumbprint or smudge on the blade, also I am not sure that this image succeeds in conveying much about the agony of such a decision, the emotions behind it.

If the decision to do one's self in by this method, then one would cut the veins lengthwise, not across...across reparable, lenghtwise is harder to do, from what I've heard...of course lengthwise would screw your very well composed image. Looks like a smudge or finger print on the knife that is a bit distacting, other wise pretty fine. Like the control of the lighting.

Image is out of focus

Reminds me a lot of my pain entry.

I really like the lighting here, with the glowing orb surrounding the action, leaving a shadow. Great work.

I think we have enought evil in the world without people taking pictures of it, or even suggesting something so horrible.

Getting a bit worried about the number of suicide related images in this challenge! Is there a depression epidemic spreading throughout photographers?
This is a clean image, like the light on the knife.

Is it me or are there a lot of suicidal people in this challenge? ;-p

do you have any "after" shots? :)

I don't feel that the image conveys instantly recognizable decision. I see a way out of decision. Good composition, neat pic. Very hitchcock.

you aren't the only one with the suicide picture....just disturbing I suppose.

Technally, to do it right you'd have to go parallel with the arm, up the vein, cutting your wrist that way can heal faster than bleed. Even if you cut it off :-)

Although morbid, a nice shot and concept, 7.
