 AKA Jewel Case Drops II
Took a pack of multi color slim jewel cases and rearranged in the following pattern: red, yellow, green, blue, purple. Put them back into the packing sleeve leaving them about two inches from out from the sleeve. The cases were backlit with a 100w flood light in a clamp lamp. Set the cases on a sheet of black construction paper and put a CD in front of the cases. Arranged drops of water on the CD with an eye dropper. Set the camera on a tripod. Shot in super macro mode on the camera with a Hoya 10x close up filter.
I shot this several times over the past week using different angles and seeing what I got with turning the CD around as carefully as I could. The number of drops changed as well. This was shot with the drops on the side of CD away from the jewel cases. Jewel Case Drops was taken with the drops on the CD right next to the jewel cases.
Post: Cloned two bits of dust and their reflections. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. USM. Crop. NeatImage. USM. Resize. USM.


Considering that in 1990 only 28% of american homes have CD's in them, I would have to say that this doesn't really meet the challenge...

Hmm, I really don't think the compact disc is a product from the eighties. More like the nineties. DNMC for me.
Too much noise in your picture. I wonder what post-processing you did.

very imaginative, can see what makes up our lighting, colors . each drop tells its own story of light, similar but almost too much. Maybe single out one drop.

Fabulous. The patterns and colors are great.

I guess that's a CD or DVD? the drops are really HUGE if it is a CD, just look at the size of them! How did you do it? Or actually, maybe they're glass beads? They're so uniform. Please tell us how you did it.

I almost never like photos of light on cds but this is an exception. The drops with amazing patterns are great and take this out of the ordinary into the extraordinary. And light is most certainly one of the subjects along with color and pattern. I wish it had deeper depth of field so all the drops were sharp. But it is very cool as it is. An 8 from me.

This is quite remarkable. Even overcomes my generic objection to "water drop shots". I'm gonna love to see how thi sone was made.

Prediction: Yellow Ribbon. (I would say blue, but that would be too obvious).
