So you have been taking these totally absorbing images from forever? Came upon it in my quest for the current 2011 granular challenge. Thank you.

Another entry that deserves a much higher standing.

Congrats...Thought this would be higher, but I guess top 25 is something nice already. I just don't get the 1s, 2s, or 3s on a shot like this.

Good shot in sepia tone, I like the scarf on head and model looking to the side; dof works well, also.

Almost missed it. but only almost ;-)
First, can I ask why silence? this photo is not silent at all. It has sand and wind and a lot of other noises. It is so NOT silent!!
This one is a wonderful take of the challenge. I can feel the annoying grains of sand and salt between my teeth.
and I just love thoe details on the kid's lips.
A top 10 for sure!

Not sure this met the challenge. It is a good photo for sure, but not meeting the challenge is all.

I think this is a very endearing photo. But I have a hard time connecting it ot he theme of granular. Beautiful compositon and detail.

I'm scoring 10 on this. Lovely direction of the eyes, and one that draws my attention. Great feel of texture and graininess. Great crop. Goodman? Apologies if I got that wrong... Heh...the bw, grainy/aged look, the nice composition...all give aways... I'm rooting for this one :)

Stunning. Reminds me of when I worked in Haiti years ago.

Lovely as the image give special meaning to the facial granule application. The character study and the askance stare do seize the moment and its mysteries. Bump.

Looks like a candid shot, and a nice one, too! Is she just amusing herself or is her face painted for an occaision? I like the out-of-focus beach and the fact that this shot is in sepia. She's well-centred, but I would have left more on the bottom. It looks a bit odd without her chin there.
