this is where the fish gets put when i clean it's tank. halogen lamps behind glass pointing up at the wall create both the silohoutte, and the gradient background. there is a simliar - dirtier version with some color on the fish in my profile.

Excellent picture of a beta.

A random thought, two glasses with a beta in each both displaying their full finage could be very interesting.

The stuff that you do with these glasses are truly amazing. I really need to try some of this one day. You have inspired me to do so. Truly a great image worthy of the 5th place. I think it should have done better but 5th place is something to be proud of. You can also be proud of the fact that you have mastered the art of photographing glasses. Great work.

i think this photo is on point but i think it could be sharpened in some sopts. the steam of the glass is noticibly sharper than the fish and the glass. despite all this, i really like it.

Superb lighting. At first glance, I thought your fish had passed, but I'm guessing it would be floating if that were the case. The mood i'm stiil getting is post life. Anyway since you decided to cut off the base, I'm left trying to figure out why you decided to show so much of the stem.

Gorgeous setup, i like the graduated background as well. The center composition works well. A nitpick, it's technically a betta... :) 9, with possible bump up on second look.

Very clean image! Simple, neat, uncluttered. I like it. I just can't get over how smooth this image is! (I *hate* seeing great images ruined by JPEG artifacts or jaggies or noise or dust specs...)

Excellent job!

Beautiful color and contrast. Your glass stem is perfectly in focus but not the betta and parts of the glass like the bottom. Perhaps it may look sharper overall with a smaller f-stop/ less macro effect? There is also a distracting line in the right side of the rim that could have been cloned out. But I'm just being nit-picky because I really like this image so much. 9

This one made me laugh. Then it struck me hey this ones not only comical but it good as well. Great silhouette work on the Beta. The glass however looks to be a lttle off to me. But still a very nice shot.

I expect this will do quite well. Beautiful depth of color. Nice clean outline on the fish. Only nit I have to pick is the water level in the glass - don't know if you could have filled it further to get rid of the line just under the rim, though. Fish probably would have splashed it out.

The detail on the goblet is superb, but contrasts a little too much (IMHO) with the lesser crispness & detail of the beta. Fantastic idea & very well done. I would have scored it even higher if the fish's silhouette had been a little clearer. (I know that shooting fish is not exactly like "shooting them in a barrel", so it's extremely difficult to attain as much clarity as you would out of the water. And normally I don't think I'd even notice that it was more out of focus, but the extraordinarily fine detail of the glass - especially the stem, and I think you may have edited the left side, as there's a slight imperfection as the goblet begins to round from the stem -draws my eye to the lesser clarity of the beta.) Sorry, this is a very long, drawn out compliment and humble suggestion - the image is outstanding! (8)

Love the title. Great clarity on the glass...the silhouette of the fish looks a little less defined around the edges, though that's likely due to the glass...nice shot!
