Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Silhouettes II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Sheboygan River, Wisconsin
Date: May 14, 2005
Aperture: f10
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/400
Galleries: Landscape, Rural
Date Uploaded: May 15, 2005

The silhouette is of the rafters making up a covered walkway beside the Sheboygan river. It is more of a frame than the actual subject of the photo so will probably get hammered, but I like the contrast and the reflections and how the diagonal leads the eye along the river.

81 of 245- very underappreciated. This is a beautiful image, The softness is what sets the mood. Still, nice job making the top 100... I've only done that once ;)

Almost surreal. The foreground is like the lens for the gorgeous background. Bump.

EXCLAMATION! I'm sensing a ribbon or at least a op ten spot. Stunning.

The landscape is beautiful and I like the warm and soft colours and the reflection in the water, but the silhouette is not interesting enough for my taste. Lovely shot though!

this looks very over-processed to me, the softness where the trees are reflected, the clouds, and the haloing all cry out TOO MUCH

The foliage looks so unnatural here. Sorry. A very nice idea, very nice leading lines, lovely composition, just strange trees. 5

wow, you lost a lot of detail when using neatimage. I don't think I like what it's done to the trees.

Interesting image. I like it a lot. You've created a nice mood with good colors and generally hight technical quality. I suppose you purposely generated the smoothed areas using your noise reduction software (NeatImage?). This borders on digital art, which is not a bad thing in my opinion but may be with other voters. As a photoartist taking full control of the image like you have done in this case, you must strive to make it perfect in every way. The only place I'd recommend changes would be in the reflections of trees with fine detail in the water. The "lower" parts of the reflected trees in left center are a little too "fuzzy". It would be hard to correct, but worth the effort. But mostly the brighter detail on the rightmost part of the detail refelected in the lake needs to be "sharper" and better show the detail above.

This is a beautiful photo, very serene. It looks like the trees have been neatimaged too much though

The neatimage application here is far too heavy and spoils the photo cos there is no texture left at all!

A wee bit over processed for my taste, original would be very nice
