Challenge: Late Night (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Location: Mt. Timpanogos, UT
Date: May 3, 2005
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 30 seconds
Galleries: Landscape
Date Uploaded: May 3, 2005

Shot at 2am from a lookout point, the city was providing most of the lighting.
I used curves, color balance to go slightly more blue, added contrast, despeckled (didn't do any good).
There is a road right behind the rocks, and I got some shots of cars driving by in front which looked really cool, but without being able to selectivly adjust the levels, it didn't turn out very well.

Utah is absolutely stunning, and I wish one day to move back. Aside from that fantastic shot, and between us I wished it would of took the blue, instead of the same old bridges I new there would be a ton of.

The bright rocks in the foreground look really out of place with the rest of the moutain. Would prefer to see more sky and less foreground. IMHO that would make this perfect!

wow! would have been perfect if it wasn't for that light on the foreground rocks. it distracts from the beauty of the dark mountain.

This is really special. Love the moonlight on the snowy mountain. Is it light from a flashlight on the rocks in the forground? Beautiful photo.

Nice image. I feel the exposure on the rocks in the foreground is slightly too high in comparison to the background, but the mountains look great in moonlight. Well done. 7 (Í'm a hard marker!)

It seems dark, are those headlights? Loved the way you captured the sky's stars...

Beautiful shot. I'm guessing some kind of lights to illuminate the rocks up front, and being a basic challenge, I'm not going to detract from the really bad blue hot pixel on the rock in front. Does seem to be a bit grainy in the sky and dark shadow of the mountain.

I like how the rocks in the foreground make the mountain look really far away. Pretty stars, too.

Full moon ?
A bit too much noise for my liking though.

It's a little grainy. Low light is such a pain, you know? However, this is a gorgeous shot! I really like how you added the rocks/hill in the foreground! Well done!

The glory of the mountain in the background and the stars are spectacular. IMO the brightness of the foreground distracts the eye from this glory. A panoramic crop just above these foreground rocks would offer this wonder even more power. Thanks for an excellent entry.

Awesome picture. While some other entries look like postcards, this one looks almost like a painting. The subject is just beautiful, and so is the sky, with its pink tones. This one has to have a ribbon! 10

Very pretty. I like the range of subjects, from the stars to the mountain to the near rocks. My only objection is that the fill flash has caused some glare on the rocks, and the rightmost one seems to draw the eye a little more than I like, possibly because of the color change halfway through.
