That is one cool shot and very interesting and completely amazing. Great reflections also in the water must have been a very calm day. WOW... that deserves a 10+

I like everything about this picture, apart from the frame. I'm not sure of which is the more dominating subject, the man or the mountain... Nice picture nonetheless!

Hmm I tried to convince myself that the mountain is not a major element... but I couldn't :( 6.

This is really excellent! I know your horizon is not uneven, but a slight tip counter clockwise might ease the illusion (no deduction for that of coarse) Moving it up or down more might satisfy the rule of thirds more. I'd love to know what he's 'standing' on. :) 10

SHWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAA?

Very cool concept!!!
The only thing that could make this better is if you fixed the tilt... But hey I don't give two craps it's still a cool picture and I'm giving you a 10

having trouble with this one. while a technically well done photo, strong point of image seems to be the mountain and doesn't fit the challenge, when the handstand man is your subject. I've changed my vote on this one 3 times

i can see where the minin=malism comes in but the rest is just too grand for this to work imo

Stunning overall picture. Great background, deep blue sky and reflection. I think you sacrifice too much detail for that borader though. 8 because of the border

cool, awesome composition, really effective reflection.

This is one seems to fit the challenge well. Is the horizon tripping a little tiny bit down on the right side...or have I seen one too many photos? Anyway, the photo is a lot of fun.

Great sense of scale. My only criticism is that the horizon seems slightly tilted to the right. Awesome shot that is just an amazing location!

Nice work. I would have used a much smaller border, but this is a great shot.

Sorry. I do not believe this meets the challenge criteria. But this has to be one of the most beautiful shots I have seen so far. I believe the reflection and the mountain are the strong images in this photo.
04/28/2005 05:31:14 PM
IMHO would be better without the border

AWESOME picture...not sure it meets minimalism...but the man is small and is in focus...soooooooo 8

This is quite striking and very amusing too in an odd way. In my eyes its quite flawed in its obvious lean tot he right. I wish you'd squared it up; the handstand guy, obviously (at least IMO) should be on true vertical, or how could he hold his pose?

stunning photo, but I dont think it works so well with the minimalism concept

Your exposure is perfect. The horizon is a little off kilter, though. I'm also left to decide whether the subject is the guy doing the handstand or the stunning mountain in the background. Take out the guy and you have a fantastic landscape. Get rid of the mountain (good luck with that) and you'd have a great minimalism shot. Together they don't work as well as they would separately.

Ok - I've come back to this after a forum message (I'm assuming it's yours -- if not, my apologies). I can see that perhaps the horizon is level and it's just an illusion that makes it look off-kilter. That being said, my opinion is still that this would look better if it appeared level (whether it is truly level or not). The line between the blue of the water and the reflection of the mountain give the sense that the water is going to spill from the photo. Whether that is caused by illusion or by not being level is ultimately irrelevant. This is still a very cool photo, and you are clearly very skilled. You should just be aware that the level illusion is a problem.

The border is very distracting in what would otherwise be a facinating photograph.

Beautiful composition, I think. The reflection works well, and the "bigness" of the surroundings makes the primary subject minimal enough. 9

Clever - I just tried holding my hand over the top of the mountain to crop out the sky - it makes a VERY good image - try it.

This is a nice image. I like the reflection of the mountain onto the water. I also like the overall shot and all of the colors in this image. This is an overall beautiful image. Nice work.
