The sky looks an unnatural shade of green, and the line in the bottom right corner is distracting. 4

Why is the sky green? I find the wire in the bottom right corner distracting. I like the fact that the rotors are frozen in place with only minimal blur.

Nice capture. Its tough to take a picture of helicopters. I like the photo, but it looks like the white balance is a little off. Could just be a strange sky though. But you could try to adjust the white balance until the chopper didn't have quite the green cast to it.

The centered composition is uninteresting. The green sky is unappealing and the power lin in the lower right corner is distracting.

Great shot. I really like the toning, makes it omenous.

INteresting, interesting choice of colour, why green? the poweline breaks it in half though. Having the copter in the middle of the frame, also doesn't provoke any movement to it, and makes it incredibly simple. Try experimenting with different positioning of the main subject in the frame to see what effects come out. 2

Interesting color and subject! Great use of minimalism, but the helicopter is too centered in the photo for me. 9

I gave this a 3 and felt you are entitled to an explanation as to why I gave it that score.

I am sorry but I don´t find this particularly interesting although it fits the challenge. The composition is way too centered and sometimes that works, but not here IMHO, to the photographs benefit. That line in the bottom right is out of place and I can´t really connect with it or what it is, is it a power line? Anyway, so far so good, not really a bad photograph at all and it fits the challenge but then there is that green sky. I don´t know what part of the world you are in but I have never ever seen a green sky and I must say that I don´t care for it one bit at all... Ended up giving you a 3 because while this fits the challenge I don´t find it interesting at all and porly composed and then there is that green sky wich really drags down the whole photograph.

On the positive side this does fit the challenge and that is always good and the idea is not bad at all, just needs better composition, a little bit more clarity as the helicopter is slightly blurred (try using a faster shutter next time) and a more interesting or aesthetically pleasing sky and you would be well on your way.

Anyway, not trying to offend you so I hope you only take this as one persons opinion.

I liek the sky, it leaves you wondering what kind of story they are covering.

Well, you've probably already been told this, but it's too green. Fits the challenge, but the framing is uninteresting. I like that you can see the "4" on the copter's side.

Would look better placed off center.

oh my, what a color cast you've got going on. yuck. the line in the lower right corner is distracting too. perhaps you could have cropped it out and subsequently made the placement of the chopper more interesting

too centered. teh wire distracts. the color of the sky...this is a change you make when trying to make a dull pic more interesting. sorry, but not a ribbon contender this time.

Meets the challenge, and the greens are a beautiful shade. The pole wire is a bit of a distraction.

Good idea, but the color of the sky seems unnatural and the power line in the lower right is a little distracting.

Its a Tornado- Fool, get the heck outta there!!! (the sky has a greenish cast about the tornado)
04/27/2005 03:16:59 PM
I think this would be even better if the wire was cropped out, and the copter wasn't dead center.

too much green for my taste. Perhaps blue would be better?
