Greetings from the Critique Club..

Hi Long...

This photo meets the challenge but it seems rather boring to look at. The light is actually drawing my eye away from your subject rather than bringing me to it. You didn't include any of your own thoughts, so I can't offer you much more than that...

the face of the jewel should prolly be a bit better lit. i like the light coming through it, though.

It's hard to make out what that is without the title. IMO, better lighting was needed for this picture.

I like the lighting, and the shadow it creates, but i think it would be stronger with a Jewel that was not in a setting.

I was thinking that perhaps the jewel was a bright color, maybe topaz or something, then it would be more interesting as well, because the light refracted behind it would also be blue and would contrast nicely with the light colored paper. 6

The lighting choice does not fit the subject. There jewel feels out of place, and the focus is too much toward the right edge of the picture.

Good idea for a simple image.

Love the texture of the background, and the central point of focus seems to be perfectly aligned in the rule of thirds grid. However, it's hard for me to tell what the item is. The title indicates that it's a jewel, but is it a jewel in some sort of setting? A ring? A bit better lighting on the item would have helped me.

Meets the challenge. I would have liked to have seen a little crisper picture of the jewell or perhaps more definition to see the stone (reflections ect).
