like the high key idea but think that your use of it may have lost some detail on the subject. focus looks just a bit off to me.

It's ok. Seems a bit washed out, perhaps because of the white background. The diamond is well lit, but lacks sparkle. How did this look with a black background?

I like the light and the piece, but the focus on the diamond (which would likely be the focal point of an advertizement...sparkle factor and all) is a bit soft.

I can easily see this as an advertisement. Makes for a great ad copy. Have you considered shooting against black? I think gemstones appear much more flattering against black. 7

Too white background, it reduces strengh from the jewel ... but a very nice picture nevertheless.
