A bit too soft on the focus.

mindblowing boss!

Thank you for submitting your photo to the People II DPChallenge.

Great job capturing your young subject. She looks very comfortable posing and appears mature beyond her age. It also looks like she has pose for photos before. She looks calm and confident.

The soft effect works in a limited way. There is too much softness in the facial area. Her left eye has too much soft process done. So it creates an immediate distraction. It also gives the image an uneven appearance. The shirt area has little or no soft effect applied. There is also some "pixelization" on the upper right corner as well as in the lower left corner of the frame. Also sometimes when you crop a photo closeup, you can see the photographer image in the subjects eyes, as in this case. This can be avoided by using a tripod and zooming in from a longer distance.

Overall a very nice photo of a young lady in her early childhood. Its a permanent familial keeper.

Good luck in your future DPChallenges.

Overall a great shot of a young lady. Less softness and watch those "orphan pixels".

beautiful girl, but i do not care for this soft effect, its very out of focus and shows no detail.

Focus is a bit too soft.

Love, love, love the soft blur. She beautiful

Lovely soft focus, its a pity you did not keep the eyes crisp.
04/24/2005 02:17:09 PM
soft..too much though
04/24/2005 11:52:49 AM
Cute model. I would have sharpened the eyes in the post editing.

VERY cute, but too soft.

Looks like you were going for a soft-focus, but it seems too soft on her face as compared to her shirt, which is distracting. I'd try a solid colour shirt and a little more light.

It's a good portrait composition and she looks like a natural in front of the camera. The diffuse glow/soft focus effect is used a lot and I can see why it is appealing, however, the eyes usually suffer with this technique. You could try attempting the effect on a new layer and once you have it looking like you want it use the eraser tool around the eyes and the mouth to bring back some of the sharpness while leaving the skin soft and glowing.

Intentionally soft, but too soft IMO for this challenge. Good portrait..

I like the soft focus on this Portrait. If the top of her head wasn't cropped off I think the whole picture would look more complete.
04/24/2005 02:19:31 AM
in smoothing the pic you lost too much detail... eg her hair.
04/24/2005 01:18:11 AM
Very beautify girl and I like the fact that she wasn’t make to smile and show the teeth, I think a photo like this is so much better with a more natural facial expression. About the soft feel in the photo, (if it was done in Photoshop) I would have used the history bush to bring back some of the face. I personally just fine the face a little too soft. Still great work!

I don't think you need such soft focus on a person this young with perfect skin and no wrinkles.
04/23/2005 02:53:02 PM
She is cute. However, this photo is so soft that takes away from how cute she is. Little cuties like this don't need all of the post-processing. 5

too much softening here.. a little too light as well.. cute subject
04/21/2005 09:54:39 AM
potentialy grat portait. I feel that this went to for with neatimage. the skin no longer looks textured and now has a wax like apearance.
04/20/2005 07:23:03 PM
Just a bit too soft for me, either, nice.
04/20/2005 06:50:18 PM
One of my favs for this challenge. I lkike the foggy look. 10

Nice photo. A little over processed.
04/20/2005 12:12:30 AM
It's plasti-girl!
04/19/2005 07:26:36 PM
soft focus is nice but almost getting too soft
04/19/2005 06:58:14 PM
lovely child
04/19/2005 01:32:32 PM
Very nice, although a little to soft for my taste
04/19/2005 12:24:30 AM
I think you will get knocked down because of the soft focus but I really like it and think it works well here...what I don't like is the beautiful muted background and the funky striped shirt...7
04/18/2005 04:52:03 PM
Good use of soft focus, but I think that some of the shirt is slightly overexposed
04/18/2005 02:39:39 PM
I like this so well I am bumping it to a nine!
04/18/2005 01:34:18 PM
She is just a cutie and melts my heart! The soft focus makes for a very engaging photo
04/18/2005 11:47:38 AM
too much blur. It works well on older faces, but this child is still smooth and silky w/out extra help. Nice pose, try to get the eyes sharper.
04/18/2005 07:40:42 AM
People may tell you that the soft focus is too much, but I think it's excellent here. Great choice for this subject- she's got an absolutely angelic face. 10.
04/18/2005 03:06:09 AM
Far too much neat image or softening
04/18/2005 02:56:17 AM
tiny bit too light on face.
Angels wear perfect white.
6 as is,9 if cropped to chin
04/18/2005 12:11:25 AM
Pretty girl with nice skin tone, lips and light. I would of liked a little more off the bottom but that's just me. This is really nice. Good work. 8
