Man this took forever! I didn't even know bout this till late afternoon. I didn't get off work till 5:45. Had to go to Wal-Mart to get some stuff & grabbed some tacks while I was there. Came home painted a piece of cardboard red, fixed dinner while it was drying, ate, had to pull all those tacks off the stupid board they come on, got my board, (it was dry by now) tried to figure out what to make with them, made somewhat of a pattern, drew it on the cardboard, & sat & poked all 4 packs of 80 tacks (minus the 4 you see lying there of course) onto this freaking board just for some funny picture!!! Man the things we do for DPC??? Whew! Now it is 10:33 & for me & my central time zone this ends at 11, so I need to stop typing & get this submitted! Wow I wonder how many words I misspelled..... LOL
BTW got the red by putting my hand over the flash, I am sure you all knew that. I just liked the look in all red better plus it made the tacks shine a lil more.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a wonderful image and a great idea. I love the work you put into it, like you said, all that work for what? A funny picture!

I noticed in some of the comments that people thought it was a mushroom but my first impression was that it was a tack made out of tacks? Hope I'm right! ;)

I like the use of red in this shot also but the two different reds where the board meets the table almost ends up being a distraction. And the line isn't quite level or crisp which does end up being a distraction in the end. The overall set up is well done with the exception of the few crooked lines on the left but when you're rushed, whatcha gonna do? :) The last tack on the table is also very well done but there seems to be some kind of reflection or white shadow or something above the one on the far left, another minor distration that could have been cloned out but again with your time constraints. :)

One last thing, a bit of levels adjustment to really make the red stand out, it seems a tad dull overall, the shine on the tacks is great but the rest is just there, not really adding to the shot, actually taking away a bit from lack of oomph value. Hope that makes sense.

Again, great shot, nice idea and good luck in future challenges!

Looks like a mushroom cloud from an atom bomb. So, did you run out of time on the challenge half way through your in-fill?

This is such a cool idea. I'd love to see a little more sharpness on the four tacks on the table and the "point" of the big tack. Good title, too :-) The red is so nice here; the collection of tacks looks like a bunch of cranberries. Nice work.

Oh, I finally get it. the RED threw me. It obsures the details so it is hard to look at and get the details. Novel idea though.

Wow. Took some time with this. And you used REAL tacks! Overwhelming red. Is it a mushroom? No bother. Like the light reflecting off the individual tacks. 7

Someone has entirely too much time on their hands.
