Challenge: Tacks! (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: Window Ledge
Date: Apr 15, 2005
Aperture: 5.8
ISO: 400
Shutter: 125
Date Uploaded: Apr 15, 2005

Put two tacks together on the ledge of my window which just happens to be white. It was a cloudy day so I got just enough light without much of a shadow. Cropped, Brightness and Contrast and Dodge and Burn on the tacks. Nothing too special but I thought I would see if I could put something together in under 20 mins that looked decent.

It would be more effective if the bottom tack was also balancing on something. I may also add that I've come to this conclusion only after reading the photo title, and not before.

I like this idea but I would have preferred to see the bottom tack grounded in some surface and casting a shadow. As it stands, it looks like the two tacks are floating in space.

Wow. How'd you do that? There are no TACKS in this image! ;) Red and white - crisp and clean. Maybe a little over sharpened. They kind of float there - I wish there was something to 'hold them down.' Interesting shot - 6 for balancing on the head of a tack.

Good idea but for me this gives off more a feeling that they are up in the air rather than standing balanced. This image desperatly needs a shadow that starts from the tip of the lower tack to give off the feeling that the bottom one is standing and the other one balanced up on it, at least IMHO.

nice minimalism. a bit too static/centered composition, for me at least. I'd give this a 6.5 if I could, but round to 7
