Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Interesting composition, meets the challenge, well composed but a bit over-exposed.

Composition/ Content
Freddy really fills up the frame nicely, either great aim or super cropping. Everything leads you to the eye which is really the focal point. Colors are good although the white is a little washed out. Looks like an on camera flash. A light from the side or 3/4 would have really showed off the texture of his feathers.

Focus seems really good and contrast is excellent for the difference in light and shadow you have here. I like the black background, it works well here. The lighting is the toughest part and it just needed to be a little softer.

My Opinion On The Photo
I think that it meets the challenge well but could have been improved a little to finish even higher than it did. Good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

freddy is cute :) I think the lighting may be just a little harsh.. i'm assuming this is from the camera flash... when doing a closeup like this with a flash, it can help to cover the flash with tissue paper or something similar to reduce the harshness of it... - setzler

Freddy is very pretty. Gold highlights are a good touch. High brightness with high contrast works well.

Neat bird! The flash overexposed the white feathers very heavily (not to mention how unkind it is to flash the bird's eye). Focus is very good. The yellow feathers came across very nicely. Good details in the non-white areas. Small nit pick - the background is -almost- black. 6 Swash

A little washed out. Pretty good colors though.

Critique: Very overexposed - taken too closely with a flash?
Praise: Fun subject that definitely seems to be comfortable around its owner. Great yellows against the white. The use of a black background works very well for this, too.

Nice subject and pretty sharp, but looks overexposed (or have you played with the levels/contrast?)

real neat shot. maybe tape a film of kleenex over the flash to preserve the details of feathers on the white bird. lookin' good, fred.

Freddie is WONDERFUL. You get a 10 from me!! How did you get the little rascal to stay still long enough for a photo?
Freddie could use a little beak polishing. Excellent photo.
